To ponder

Definitions:

is·land n. A land mass, especially one smaller than a continent, entirely surrounded by water.

lake n. A body of (usually fresh) water surrounded by land.

Given the above definitions for an island and a lake;

Given that as you are traveling through space you come upon a planet where the Northern Hemisphere is entirely water and the Southern Hemisphere is entirely land with Northern and Southern areas equal;

Query: is the Northern Hemisphere a lake OR is the Southern Hemisphere an island?
